Robert Rodgers is an IT Specialist and Lead Business Analyst for IBM Global Business Services. Untill joining IBM, Robert spent his entire career in the hospitality industry, starting with operations at hotels and then moving into IT and IT Support. During 30 years with Marriott International, he worked in operations on the accounting side of the business before developing an interestin IT and moving to Wichita in 1990 to work in IT Support. That work led to a career as a Project Manager for Installations that spanned 3 years, 25 states and 7 foreign countries. With the birth of his daughter, he returned back to Support, managing the day-to-day operations for Marriott's Full Service Property Management Systems Support Desk for 10 years, while managing various small project for Marriott. Robert's work for IBM is now focused on developing an offshore support team in India, putting together standards and processes for Marriott and IBM and managing small project primarily focused on upgrades to hotel software and infrastructure.
Robert joined PMI and took the PMP Prep Class from the Wichita Chapter in the fall of 2013. With various business and family damands, Robert put aside working on his certification. He is currently applying to take the PMP exam in 2017 and has volunteered as the VP of Finance starting in 2017.
Robert's involvement in volunteering began when his daughter enetered elementary school where he was part of the Beech Elementary site council and served the PTO as Treasurer. As his daughter became involved in Girl Scouts, he volunteered as a Troop Leader, Service Unit Trainer and Service Unit Treasurer and volunteered at camps during the summers. When his daughter graduated high school with her Gold Award, he decided to turn his volunteer efforts to PMI.
Robert holds a Bachelor of Science in Communications from the University of Tulsa, a Master of Science in Management from Friends University and accounting courses too numerous to count. He also holds the ITIL Foundations certification and several certifications from the Help Desk Institute.
The VP of Finance is responsible for all accounting functions related to the chapter. This included accounting for all income from events and membership fees, expenses for meeting and events and the ongoing expenses of the chapters's operations. The VP of Finance is also responsible for tax filings and any financial filings required by the State of Kansas and PMI. This office is also responsible for assisting with grant applications to PMI for Leadership Conference support at the Regional level for the Board of Directors.
